Ronald McDonald House is an affordable home-away-from-home for the families of seriously ill children being treated at nearby hospitals. Rather than spend the night in a hospital waiting room, family members can stay in comfort at a Ronald McDonald House and receive support from staff, volunteers or other families who are sharing similar experiences. Facilities include private family rooms with en-suites and common kitchens, lounges, quiet rooms and play areas. Criteria to Stay To stay at Ronald McDonald House Newcastle, you must meet all of the following criteria: The patient must be a child under the age of 18 The family, including the child patient, must live 100km or more away from Ronald McDonald House (Families from the Central Coast may also be eligible to stay with us) No-one under the age of 18 can stay at the House unaccompanied by an adult (over the age of 18), even if they are the parents of a baby or child. Only families who fit these criteria are eligible to stay with us. Ronald McDonald Family Retreat - Forster The Ronald McDonald Family Retreat Program at Forster, built on the beautiful waters of Wallis Lake, provides free holiday accommodation—for one week— for families with a seriously ill child to enjoy a holiday together, take a break from the stresses of hospital and deal with their new life situation.
