Part-time Bookkeeper/Accountant

The Bookkeeper/Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting the financial stability and success of the organization, enabling the delivery of high-quality services to individuals with disabilities.

The Bookkeeper/Accountant is responsible for managing the financial operations of an NDIS disability provider. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices and payments, reconciling accounts, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines. The Bookkeeper/Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting the financial stability and success of the organization, enabling the delivery of high-quality services to individuals with disabilities.

Part time 1- 2 days per week with the possibility of more hours in the future.

$35 – $45 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Process invoices, payments, and expenses.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Reconcile financial statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist in preparing budgets.
  • Generate regular financial reports and provide analysis.
  • Follow NDIS financial management requirements and regulations.
  • Stay updated on relevant standards and contribute to audits.
  • Process payroll and manage superannuation contributions.
  • Utilize accounting software effectively and contribute to system improvement.
  • Coordinate with other departments and communicate with stakeholders and vendors.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Cert. IV Accounting or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software (Xero or other).
  • Proven experience in accounting, bookkeeping, payroll or similar.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management practices.
  • Familiarity with NDIS funding and financial management guidelines (desirable).
  • Experience with SCHADS award (desirable)
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook and Excel)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

This is NOT a remote job. Please do not apply if you are not located in the Lake Macquarie or Newcastle areas. We are also not interested in outsourcing this position.
